One Week to Inner Peace
I was going through a really difficult time at work a few months back. Even my yoga class didn’t help, and that usually loosens me right up. Because of my busy schedule, I couldn’t attend any of the meditation courses at my local studio. My instructor recommended I check out Zoe’s course so I could try meditating at home. I was skeptical at first; it seemed so impersonal. Still, I figured I didn’t have much to lose. I was already on the edge anyway.
I’m glad I did. Zoe possesses a very pleasant voice, making these programs very relaxing to listen to. Each lesson is short, making it easy to fit into your day. It doesn’t require much beyond just listening to her instructions and carrying them out… and even then, most of the instructions consist of breathing and envisioning peaceful images and focusing your energy. It’s a lovely experience. I could step out of the office for a few minutes, close my eyes, put on the app, and lose myself in myself. It’s a little more spiritual than I usually go, but all the talk of chakras and energy centers allows you to pinpoint your practice whether you believe in it or not.
This isn’t a course that promises to change your life. It’s just one that allows you to take a moment to yourself and forget about the outside world long enough to remember who you are and what’s important to you. I’ve been using it to keep myself centered at work, and it’s definitely doing the trick. It’s amazing what a little bit of relaxation at the right time can accomplish. Now, whenever I’m feeling overwhelmed, I can go to my safe space. It’s much nicer to love myself rather than the opposite.
