Anxiety awareness is the first step to freedom
I so appreciate that Dr. Metzgar breaks down the physical aspect of anxiety rather than just talking about the mental and emotional part of it. I’ve always had trouble relating to anxiety talks online because everyone talks about how the mental blocks and fear keep them from living to their fullest, which is completely valid, but in my case, my anxiety manifests physically in a violent way. My pupils blow out, my limbs go numb, I have trouble understanding things, my head hurts, my heart feels like it’s going to pop, I can’t sleep, I tremble, and I even experience vomiting and diarrhea when it escalates into a full blown anxiety attack. Often I don’t even know what triggered the anxiety or what I’m even worried about. As you can imagine, this is frustrating. With my body getting so sick from anxiety, I miss work and school, and even fun things like my social and romantic life suffer.
Anxiety can be really debilitating and negatively impact our health after so much constant cortisol and adrenaline. It’s a constant sense of danger and impending doom that makes me so ill and depleted mentally, emotionally, and physically. It affects my appetite, my weight, my skin, my focus, productivity, and more.
If you’ve got it bad like me or you want to nip it in the bud before you develop any damaging cycles, or even if you want to better understand the anxiety your loved one is dealing with, Liza Metzgar’s anxiety course is incredibly helpful. She teaches you how to recognize anxiety so you don’t follow the spiral and make the situation worse. She offers breathing exercises to directly calm the nervous system down, talks about the importance of going on walks and getting exercise, meditation, aromatherapy, diet and she even talks about having a planner! I love this. I started a planner this year and it’s changed my life. I’m always sharing my planner with people and how it’s made me more productive and how it makes me feel more in control.
Her tracks are short and easy to understand, and again I really appreciate that she goes into topics a lot of anxiety self-help leaves out.
