Dealing with Shame and Fear – Recovery in SA and SLAA

In these set of tapes, Sex addicts tell their stories and discuss their shame and fear and the recovery from it. Just as it is with alcoholics and addicts, it is the same as lust. They find that lust is a solution to their problems. The “problem” with that, is that it does not last and there is the cycle and there is always a need for more, hence, an addiction.

For example, a sex addict may look at a picture on the internet, but that is not satisfying enough, so they need more pictures, then an hour later to continue fulfilling the need for lust and they will still be viewing the web satisfying themselves until they are ready.

For many dealing with these issues, it is a secret world and at that, a shameful world where they have to hide. The guilt, the resentment toward wives and others eat them up and it piles on. That is where the pain, shame, and guilt pile on. An awful feeling full of pressure. As you hear in these tapes, the speakers share their often similar stories, the torture that they feel.

When they open up, you hear, very much their anguish, but then the hope, when they open up about their pain and share, is of a great release. The stories are sincere and hopeful for those that are suffering for this shame, fear, and suffering.

I recommend these tapes to those in the midst of this addiction or in recovery. There is much hope listening to these speakers.
