Gain a larger perspective of your anxiety and its effects on your life

I just recently emerged out of a very traumatic breakup that sent me into a spiral of self-pity, anxiety, and self-destructive tendencies. Not only was losing the woman of my wildest dreams traumatic in and of itself, but the circumstances surrounding it were equally traumatizing. Through listening to this collection of podcasts, I gained great insight into what I am experiencing and how I can challenge myself in order to expand my own self and heal.

In the podcasts regarding relationships, I learned that the part of the brain that is affected by a breakup is the same part of the brain that is affected in cocaine addicts when they are experiencing withdrawals. I find this to be interesting, especially considering my history of drug addiction. In hearing this example, I was able to take the imagery and apply to what I know it makes sense. I have been addicted to my partner since the breakup. Writhing in pity and pain and wishing for another chance, however, I realize that all I have been doing is neglecting myself and the parts of my life that I could indeed be elevating if I chose to redirect my energy and attention.

I have a great deal of anxiety when it comes to relationships. In fact, I think we all do in one way or another. We fear rejection, betrayal, emotional pain, and suffering, and when faced with the unknown or undigested trauma, these fears become a deleterious force of anxiety that propels us into a frantic state of disillusion that blurs our reality and blinds us to our most steadfast truths. At least, I can say this much for myself.

In the end, if you are aware of your anxiety and how it negatively affects your life, but are unsure of how exactly to go about combatting it and responding to it in a healthy manner, give this package of podcasts and wonderful information a listen. I promise you, you will come away from it standing that much taller.
