Knowing where to start is the first step to success

They say that the best way to learn how to do something is to follow in the footsteps of someone who has done it successfully. When I decided to start my own business, this little tidbit was the farthest thing from my mind. I knew I was ready to strike out on my own. I was tired of slaving to make someone else rich, and I wanted to see if I could make it on my abilities. I wasn’t scared or intimidated. I was just confused. I had no idea where to start.

That’s where Angie Atkinson comes into the picture. I honestly wasn’t looking for a life coach. I was just looking for ideas on a business model that would be a sure thing. See, being brave doesn’t preclude being risk averse. I’ve been on the lower rungs of businesses all my life. I have seen what can happen when people take unnecessary or ill-planned chances. Careers can falter in an afternoon.

That said, Atkinson’s approach looked promising to me, so I’m giving it a shot. So far, everything appears to be going according to plan. I can’t tell you the specifics of my venture; it’s top secret. What I can say is that Atkinson’s ideas on finding a niche that you truly love are spot on. Had I not engaged with this audio course, I would still be stuck in a rut in a dead-end career. I am now actively pursuing a self-employment strategy that is working. It’s slow going, but it’s happening. The snowball is rolling downhill, and it’s pretty exciting.

Atkinson makes it seem easy, but she doesn’t sugarcoat the process. She obviously recognizes the difficulties we face in finding a niche product, and she spins that concept on its head. The thing that got me going, that got me off the couch and into business, was her minimum viable product theory. I’d heard the concept before, but never thought of the benefits it could hold for my own business. Once I just got over it and put my product out there, I was able to improve it gradually. Were it not for Atkinson, though, I would not have known where to start.
