Less Anxiety with More Awareness
As Gina Ryan mentions in this series, life is like a spiral in that we revisit what seems like the same place over and over again, but we are revisiting said place from different perspectives. This resonates greatly with me, as I have revisited my own darkness a countless number of times, however, every time I seem to dive a little deeper in my healing and I see the shadowy realm from a different point of view.
I recently spent 4 months in South America. I was traveling with my partner at the time, and in retrospect, I had nothing at all to be so anxious and fearful about. Nonetheless, I began to identify with my old patterns of thought and behavior and became caught up in my pain-body. This identification with my negative thoughts and residual pains that I have held onto manifested itself as destructive behavior that sabotaged my relationship with my partner and nearly cost me my life. I learned lessons that needed to be learned, but in retrospect, I can’t help but consider the idea that I could have navigated through my shadows in a more mindful and compassionate way.
This audio course has provided me with a plethora of healthy tools to become more mindful and aware in my daily life. Even since my return to the United States, I still notice feelings of resistance arise that hinder me from enjoying where I am here and now. Gina Ryan’s teachings encourage listeners to become more mindful within their everyday lives and to diminish the power of anxiety, fear, aversion and doubt through noticing them, naming them, and allowing them to be. While it may sound strange and impossible to some, it is the very nature of being ‘awake’ within one’s life and stepping into the realm of awareness.
One of the biggest things that lessens the power of anxiety and our resistances, is being in the present moment. When we direct our focus to where we are in the present moment instead of worrying about the future or ruminating over the past, we become free of the angst that lies within those places of imagination. Gina Ryan’s gentle voice and brilliant wisdom has provided me with powerful tools to become more meditative, mindful, and ultimately free in my everyday life.
