Listening to Gina Ryan’s voice alone will diminish your anxiety
Recently in my life, I have taken it upon myself to listen to more podcasts and audio programs on anxiety and their effects on one’s life. In this short amount of time, I have learned more than I thought possible about the commonplace disorder known as anxiety, and just how it cultivates itself in our lives. Gina Ryan is an amazing teacher who has so much to say on the matter, and she not only educates her listeners but provides helpful and reasonable solutions to taking back one’s own power and putting anxiety in the backseat.
One of the things that sticks out to me most about this particular podcast, is her mention of Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.). I think this is something that many of us experience but have not known what name to address it by. I know for me, the fall and winter months tend to be ones of great pain, growth, and introspection. Whether not this is due to my own personal preference or if it is S.A.D. I don’t know, however, it has given me great insight into myself and others to learn about this disorder and how it affects my behaviors and perceptions.
Despite my diving into self-exploration and self-actualization over the past few years, I have certainly still encountered plenty of anxiety and depression along the way — Am I behaving correctly? Is this in alignment with my higher truth? Why is this happening if I am doing so well?
These questions plague, and at times, cripple me, or rather, it is the false beliefs attached to the anxiety that cripple me and render me supposedly helpless. Accepting my affinity for anxious behaviors is something that has helped me to become more self-aware and more in control of myself within my ability to make choices in a responsive manner rather than a reactive one. If you struggle with reaction over response or simply feel like you are at the whims of your bouts of angst, definitely consider listening to this podcast and learning more about your anxiety. I promise you, it will help greatly.
