This course helped me to better navigate and understand my anxiety and fear
I have never considered myself to have anxiety, however, recently I have been battling bouts of erratic emotions that send me spiraling into discombulated states of being. I realize that I have a hard time going easy on myself and simply allowing my emotions to be. I put too much focus on the “how” and the “why” instead of letting my emotions and thoughts be as they are and tapping into my “wise mind,” as Gina Ryan puts it.
Another piece of awareness that I gathered through listening to this course is that Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.) is a real thing, and more people are probably affected by it than one would think. I never really knew what it was or understand why it is a ‘disorder,’ but now I am starting to understand that perhaps it does affect me more than I would like to think.
With the incessant holiday parties and the subsequent crashing that follows, the depression, the anxiety and overwhelm of overcommitment, and simply feeling like I have too much on my plate, I have definitely been experiencing a ‘low’ if you will.
Gina Ryan’s brilliance and gentle prose have definitely assisted me in better understanding my emotions and how to navigate them in more healthy manners.
With a history of drug addiction and alcohol abuse, my erratic emotions and anxiety tend to spike when I am irresponsible and fill my days with escape.
Finding clarity in these winter months can be difficult with the hustle and bustle of the holidays and the lack of sunshine and rainbows, however, it doesn’t have to be as difficult as we make it out to be. If you struggle with anxiety and depression like I do, then definitely consider taking a little time out of your busy schedule to sit down, take some notes, and listen to this wonderful podcast series. I can guarantee you that you will find some useful information and tools to help you along the way.
