Thoughts on Meditation.
I have had a stressful week and these podcasts really helped! I liked how it immediately goes straight into meditation to get you prepared for the rest of the remaining segments. I thought the speaker’s voice was extremely calming. I am not sure why British accents sound so beautiful but they are so soothing! Likewise, I liked how the podcasts focused mainly on love, on different forms of love for yourself and for other people. I also really loved how she focuses on the ego.
From all of the research I’ve done in meditation and self actualization I have come across this idea of the ego as being a form of hindrance to awareness. I have realized that ego is the thing that holds on to material possessions, to toxicity, to stagnant energy that you don’t necessarily need. I liked how she emphasized the release of this ego through varying degrees of love, and thought it was an effective way of meditation.
I also really appreciated her learning to be alone meditation. For someone like me, I generally can become quite anxious when I am alone especially when my anxiety is already present. It can be very hard for me to calm myself down, which sucks because depression and anxiety are already generally pretty isolating. I definitely think that that podcast is something that I will use in the future to help me if I’m ever feeling anxious or worried about being isolated. I also really appreciated the duration of these podcasts, sometimes meditations can go on forever and ever, but these were all around 30 minutes which I thought was a pretty reasonable amount of time. All in all, I definitely think that these podcasts were helpful if you’re ever looking to try different meditations or change our awareness!
