Who doesn’t want to be great? Apparently there is a science to doing that.

Who doesn’t want to be great? I know I do, but could never really define what that meant. In an interview type course, Tom Cassidy really breaks it down on how to quantify it and make it a tangible goal.

One of my biggest takeaways is how being “great” starts deep within us. We must have faith in ourselves. If we don’t believe in ourselves, how can we be great? That’s the key and he gives great tips on how to have that faith. He also gives 5 steps on how to be great.

The course makes perfect sense to me. What I also realize is “greatness” is purely subjective. What is great to me may be nothing to someone else and vice-versa. The key is to focus on you and not what society or those around you considers great.

A quote that stands out and reinforces this is “everything you need is within you.” I think we as a society need to really think about this and internalize it. By seeking external sources for greatness, we may be in for a huge surprise or let down. Not to mention those material items can be taken from us. If that happens, would we still consider ourselves great? I don’t think so.

Another excellent point is greatness can be applied to all aspects of our lives, big or small. Even “small” things can be done in a great way. We can think great and act great. We can start small and work our way up to bigger and better if we so choose.

Two of my biggest takeaways here is by first “thinking” great, we can start doing great things; and we ALL have the potential to be great. “we are as great as the greatest, but no better than anyone else.”

This is an excellent point, and can help all of us realize that we shouldn’t compare ourselves to others, or think someone is better than us. We all have the potential to be great. We just have to tap into it.

This is a long course, but it’s well worth it. It’s critical we know without any doubts that we CAN be great. After listening to a few tracks, I think Tom can convince even the most skeptical person that they indeed can be great.
