Brilliant Information on Recovery and Finding Your Higher Power
This is definitely one of the longer courses I have ever listened to on sex addiction and the issues behind it. However, with that being said, I believe there is some information in this course that I have never heard before and it helped me to amend my recovery plan for my sex addiction. It helped me to see that the spiritual aspect of recovery is so much more than I ever thought. I know that being in lust recovery means you must want to stop lusting and be sexually sober just like the speaker says. It is up and down a lot for me and I am hoping that by amending my recovery plan, I can do better.
There is a speaker in this course named Chris S. who says that enthusiasm can keep you going. He says that he would have qualified for meetings at 12 years old. I was very close to this at 13 to 15 years old, I was already headed down the wrong path in my life. I laughed when he said that when people said he needed help, he said no I got it. That was so funny. I did the exact same thing. I stumbled through everything just like he did. Enthusiasm has gotten me through so much of my recovery as well.
A speaker, Allen B., was one of my favorites. He talks about pride being one of his character defects. I could not get enough of this section. When I was going through my character defects, which I am still trying to work on, I noticed my major one was low self-esteem. This is and has been one of the biggest downfalls in my whole life. When I got into recovery, this hurts me big time. I now have a bit more self-esteem but still working on growing it so I don’t relapse.
All of the information here in this course is helpful. Listening to it a bit at a time is great but ultimately hearing it all could help you to change your perspective on how recovery can save you.
