Mindfulness in every day life?
I really connected with this podcast, I’m someone who has trouble practicing mindfulness and has found it be quite the challenge. A lot of the time I have so much going in my head that it’s hard to take a step back from anxiety and stressors throughout the day. It can be even harder still to understand why I have the certain anxieties that I do and where they originate from.
I enjoyed these podcasts because they give you a general road map as to how to start integrating mindfulness into your everyday life. I thought the walking meditation was super helpful and I even went out and took a walk after I listened to it! I was surprised to find how something as simple as taking a walk could affect my overall mood and understanding of my current situation. I also enjoyed the meditation on a specific object; it came naturally to me because I realized when I am stressed that is something I already do!
Likewise, I thought the idea of gratitude along with mindfulness was interesting. I’ve never quite thought about the idea of being grateful as a form of happiness, yes, I always thought that gratitude was linked to happiness, but I guess I never realized how linked those two are.
These podcasts really opened my awareness to the idea of having small moments that can equivocate to feelings of happiness, gratitude, and calmness.
As effective as these podcasts were, I did, however, have one tiny hindrance with the speaker. I thought the way the speaker was talking wasn’t very smooth, and instead of say having a friend speaking to me I felt as if someone was reading a pre-written script that felt forced. I thought the pronunciation of the speaker was a little off as well, but other than that I loved it!
