Thankful For My Life Today
Thank you so much for this fantastic, entertaining audio of an Al-Anon Workshop by Vannoy S. about the History of Al-Anon and the 12 Steps. It is a great listen! Nine audios in total. Vannoy S. is a wonderful, funny and entertaining speaker. I enjoyed it very much.
All I can say is that I am so thankful to the founders of AA, Bill W. and Dr. Bob for publishing The Big Book (Alcoholics Anonymous) and the 100 early AA members who contributed in one way or another to the writing of this book. Without them, we wouldn’t have The 12 Steps Program. I owe them my life.
I would not be here if it were not for God, The Big Book, and The 12 Steps Program and I can be proud to say that today, I am grateful that I continue to grow closer to God each and every day, praying for the knowledge of His will for me. Today, I experience a good kind of freedom that never existed for me, even before I started drinking. These days, no matter how bad I feel, the first thing I do is talk to God or share my thoughts with someone who can understand, not run to the nearest bar. I walk with my head held high, with dignity, far removed from fear, shame, guilt and resentment. I no longer walk alone and find fellowship with others like me in AA. I have a roof over my head and I am working and making a decent living. I am useful not only to new members of AA, but to other people as well.
Today, I am grateful for all these things and for the knowledge that my future will continue to shine bright as long as I continue on this path. Thank you.
