Melody Litton’s Course on Loving Your Body Was Surprisingly Relaxing and Thought-Provoking
I wasn’t expecting this course to be so relaxing! This course is about learning to accept and love your body and how doing so will help you recognize what your body needs and how best to treat it. I promise, it’s not as boring or as obnoxious as I’m making it sound.
There is also quite a bit of meditation involved but they have this soothing background music which really helps set the tone for the whole thing. I have to admit, I am not one to meditate and I have only done it once before so I had no idea what I was doing at first but she walks you through the process and whether I did it right or not, I’ll never know but I can assure you that I was really enjoying my quiet time.
There are a few key points to this course:
- Identifying where all the negativity toward your body is coming from
- Recognizing how amazing your body is and how much it does for you
- Learning how to communicate with your body, how to praise it in order to feel the power of positive energy and also to be receptive and listen to what it needs
There were some moments that were really thought-provoking. You always hear about how you should love yourself and you shouldn’t compare yourself to others but you never realize how all those negative thoughts truly affect you. She compares that negativity surrounding you to a parasite and when I started to think of it as a tangible thing, I realized just how dangerous those thoughts can be.
She mentions how we should be grateful for all our body does for us and praise it for everything we are able to accomplish, even the little things. My son has cerebral palsy and autism. His body actually works against him most of the time. My body works for me, every single day and I have been taking that for granted all along, not realizing how beautiful and special it actually is.
I can’t say that this course has changed my life completely but I can say that it has given me a lot to think about. Sometimes you just need a reminder — a reality check, really — to help you see things in a different light and to give you the motivation you might need to kick-start a new chapter in life.
