Releasing the anger is letting in the intimacy

If you have problems with holding on to anger, you may not realize how that affects your emotional connections to your significant other. I get into this cycle of being frustrated with a lack of intimacy, and that anger keeps me from being open to intimacy when the time comes. I knew I needed a way to get rid of the excess baggage that I carry around with me, so I thought I would give Dr. Martha Tara Lee’s “Clean and Clear” course a try.

Dr. Lee is a sexologist by trade, and her whole approach revolves around intimacy and the things that keep us from fully engaging in each other. Chief among those obstacles for me is holding onto anger, but it could be any number of other things. Now, a happy marriage requires letting go of those things and developing a romantic relationship, but my anger issues weren’t letting me get there.

I’ve been trying some of the breathing techniques, and I find them very calming and relaxing. I can feel my anger seeping away as I concentrate on my breathing. Holding onto petty things is a terrible habit, but it gets ingrained. I’m not sure if all of that anger is leaving me when I relax this way, but it is definitely an improvement,

The beautiful thing about this audio course is that it isn’t just one voice. Dr. Lee interviews several different therapists and life coaches. Most of what they had to say was enlightening to me in one way or another, but not everyone made the most of sense. The interview with Sarah Martin was particularly interesting. She describes getting outdoors and getting physical, and how that helps her in certain ways. Now, I’m incapable of doing the things she described, but I’m now incorporating activity and intimacy together, and the results are impressive.

If you decide to take on this course, leave your inhibitions at the door. Inhibition was never a problem for me, so I was just fine with the material. In the long run, I know I’ll be better off for having listened to it. I’m already using it as a jumping-off point to learn more about the subjects of Dr. Lee’s interviews, and I’m looking forward to hearing more from Dr. Lee herself.
