Thoughts on Anxiety

As someone who deals with anxiety on a day to day basis, I’ve grown really accustomed to dealing with irrational thoughts and cycles of familiar behavior. Listening to these podcasts, especially the 5 reasons you must not give up on yourself, gave me some insight that was not necessarily there before. I found it really profound when the speaker began to talk about failing, about letting yourself fail instead of running from your mistakes.

As someone with a mental illness, I tend to think about all the possible outcomes down the road which usually hinders my capacity for doing the things that I love to do. I also really appreciated the journaling for anxiety, normally I have so many thoughts that get so jumbled in my head and it makes it extremely difficult to navigate my feelings and emotions. Journaling has always been a form of release, and is such a great way to relieve anxiety!

Also throughout these podcasts, I noticed this idea of awareness that kept coming up. It made me think about how with depression and anxiety there is such a lack of awareness, it’s almost like some weird stressed out tunnel vision. I think it’s important to be aware of your past, of the things that make you tick, especially when he brings up awareness as a means to let go. Normally when I get anxiety it’s very hard for me to calm myself down, there are so many thoughts and feelings that continually race through my head that make even doing the most simple of tasks incredibly difficult. I really liked how accessible these podcasts are; I listened to them on my way to work!

Maybe there’s something soothing about hearing someone talk about subjects that really hit home with you, but I definitely found these calming and very cathartic! All and all 10/10! Would highly recommend!
